General Recommendations
Before you decide to purchase equipment for your practice we recommend you:
1. Ask if the equipment was FDA tested.
FDA tests are made in FDA authorized labs.
If the equipment is manufactured in US:
There are many authorized labs in the US. If you are interested in more details you can find a list of these labs on the FDA Web site: www.fda.org
If the equipment is manufactured in China:
There are only 8 FDA authorized labs in China. All belong to major research organizations, and they are under governmental control.
All equipment needs to pass:
- Bio compatibility test
- Electrical Safety tests
- Electromagnetic and Radiation tests
If they don't know about them, we recommend you find other equipment. You will be safer and "out of fears". The risks of damage will be minimal, and you won't risk a lawsuit.
2. Ask about training and on-going training.
Ask how long the training takes and who it is from. The training needs to be done by a professional and needs to take more than 4 hours. If they don't know, we recommend you find other equipment.
3. Looking to buy cheap equipment at a trade show is not the best solution, mainly if the equipment is coming from a non-verified source.
4. Ask the dealer about protocols.
Each procedure and each accessory needs to come with specific protocols. If they don't have one, we recommend you find other equipment.
5. Ask as many questions as possible regarding the anatomical and physiological equipment implications.
If the sales person is hesitant in their answers, they don't know what they are selling. AND if they don't know, we recommend you find other equipment.
6. Ask about side effects and contraindication.
Be aware that skincare regulations are different from one country to another, even from Europe or Canada to US. The most invasive and least protective regulations are in ASIA. If they don't know if the equipment was manufactured after US regulations, we recommend you find other equipment.
7. If an equipment has a CE mark (European Community) it is not identical to the FDA mark.
Much equipment coming from Asia only has the CE mark.
8. All ultrasound equipment is Class II Medical grade and can be used only under medical supervision or in a Medical Directed facility or Spa.
9. All ultrasound Blades Scrubbers or massagers are Class I Medical Grade.
